First of all I want to thank you for seeking more information after viewing our billboard. You are making a giant first step to change the direction of our nation. I firmly believe that we can change the world, but change must start with each individual. There is a lot of misinformation being given to people that is just wrong. Here is a list of just a few: Homosexuality is not condemned in the Bible. Having sex outside of marriage is ok. A fetus is not a baby. Marriage is an old fashioned idea that is outdated. The Bible speaks about each of these issues and a lot more if one would just take the time to search. Let’s take the first statement on the list: Homosexuality is not condemned in the Bible. In Genesis 1:26-28, Moses writes: Then God said, "Let us make man in our image, in our likeness, and let them rule over the fish of the sea and the birds of the air, over the livestock, over all the earth, and over all the creatures that move along the ground." So God created man in his own image, in the image of God he created him; male and female he created them. God blessed them and said to them, "Be fruitful and increase in number; fill the earth and subdue it.” Did you notice that God made man in his image? Did you also notice that God made the first couple on earth male and female? In Genesis 2:19-24, Moses also writes: Now the Lord God had formed out of the ground all the beasts of the field and all the birds of the air. He brought them to the man to see what he would name them; and whatever the man called each living creature, that was its name. So the man gave names to all the livestock, the birds of the air and all the beasts of the field. But for Adam no suitable helper was found. So the Lord God caused the man to fall into a deep sleep; and while he was sleeping, he took one of the man's ribs and closed up the place with flesh. Then the Lord God made a woman from the rib he had taken out of the man, and he brought her to the man. The man said, "This is now bone of my bones and flesh of my flesh; she shall be called 'woman,' for she was taken out of man." For this reason a man will leave his father and mother and be united to his wife, and they will become one flesh. Did you notice here that God had all the animals he created pass by Adam and not one of them was a suitable companion for him? God put Adam to sleep, took a rib from his side and made a woman. Adam acknowledged that she came from him, named her “woman,” and God said he would be united to his wife. Some would argue that since Jesus didn’t specifically condemn homosexuality it must be ok. Let’s look at how Jesus defined marriage: Matthew 19:3-6 3 Some Pharisees came to him to test him. They asked, "Is it lawful for a man to divorce his wife for any and every reason?" 4 "Haven't you read," he replied, "that at the beginning the Creator 'made them male and female,' 5 and said, 'For this reason a man will leave his father and mother and be united to his wife, and the two will become one flesh'? 6 So they are no longer two, but one. Therefore what God has joined together, let man not separate." Notice that Jesus quoted Genesis 2:19-24. His definition of marriage is the same that was given “at the beginning.” Brothers and sisters, we are living in troubling times. Don’t think God didn’t know what was going to happen: 2 Timothy 3:1-5 But mark this: There will be terrible times in the last days. People will be lovers of themselves, lovers of money, boastful, proud, abusive, disobedient to their parents, ungrateful, unholy, without love, unforgiving, slanderous, without self-control, brutal, not lovers of the good, treacherous, rash, conceited, lovers of pleasure rather than lovers of God— having a form of godliness but denying its power. Have nothing to do with them. Any Bible dictionary will give you definitions of these words. When you look them up it sounds like the headlines from today. As God’s people what can we do to change the path our country is headed down? 1st – Pray. The Bible tells us in James 5:16: The prayer of a righteous man is powerful and effective. Also in 1 Peter 3:10-12: For, "Whoever would love life and see good days must keep his tongue from evil and his lips from deceitful speech. He must turn from evil and do good; he must seek peace and pursue it. For the eyes of the Lord are on the righteous and his ears are attentive to their prayer, but the face of the Lord is against those who do evil." 2nd – Talk. We must stop being silent about moral and spiritual issues that our world is confused about. 1 Peter 3:15: Always be prepared to give an answer . . . This scripture applies to all Christians. We need to prepare to be prepared. We need to study God’s Word so we can give His answers when people need to hear them. 3rd – Inform your elected officials (and make sure you cast an educated vote). We vote people into office to represent us. Not the .1 % or the few that run Hollywood and/or Washington, DC. When they vote on something that you don’t believe in or you disagree, let them know. If enough people fill their mail boxes and e-mails, they will listen. 4th – Teach. Teach your kids and your grandchildren that there are absolute rights and wrongs. The source of that information is God. Show them in His Word the definition of marriage, that sex between unmarried or not married people is called fornication or adultery. They need to know that pregnancy is the creation of a life at conception (Psalm 149:14-16), and marriage will always be defined in the Bible as between one man and one woman. If you don’t take the time to teach them, the world will. As Christians, we are in a battle. Ephesians 6:11-13: Put on the full armor of God so that you can take your stand against the devil's schemes. For our struggle is not against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the powers of this dark world and against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly realms. Therefore put on the full armor of God, so that when the day of evil comes, you may be able to stand your ground, and after you have done everything, to stand. Why do we need to put on the “full armor of God”? “So that you [we] can take our stand against the devil’s schemes. Thank you for reading this article. I’ll end by saying what Peter said in Acts 2:40 With many other words he warned them; and he pleaded with them, "Save yourselves from this corrupt generation." |
